Basically, you need a squeaky clean record with no police detentions, no felony charges or a jail record with a sentence of a year or more.
Eligibility also includes the information that you have. You must not make any false statements or even fail to disclose information that is crucial in the application- the forms for FFL requirements must be filled out completely and as honestly as possible. This will definitely increase your changes of being approved. The application also places importance in the fact that you neither have nor will violate any of the Gun Control Acts and regulations.
Prospective Place of Business

When establishing a business in the buying and selling of firearms, your business must follow federal, state, and local regulations. The establishment must also be equipped with a security system and a secure storage area. Documentation that you have met with all the compliance with all local, state and federal laws should also be shown 30 days after the approval of your FFL application.
More than one copy of your application should be sent in. This is because the first copy goes to the local police department and the second and third copies go to the BATF which is the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
There are many requirements to obtain the Federal Firearms License but tools available in the market make the application process much easier. The BATF website is another good source to get the application process understood much easier.
